Elephants by Lea El Tannir
Elephants are large mammals. Two species are recognized, the African elephant and the Asian elephant.Male African elephants are the largest terrestrial animals and can reach a height of 4m and weight 7,000 kg.
Elephants' large ear flaps help to control their body temperature and their large legs can carry their great weight. These mammals are herbivores and can be found in savannas, forests, and deserts. They prefer to stay near water. The young elephants are called "calves". Elephants are an endangered species because hunters are hunting these mammals for their long tusks. Unfortunately, elephants will be extinct if this action is continued.
